Zero Hour – Nuke General vs. Air Force General

The Air Force General is one of the easier missions to beat once you realize you need to focus on one thing, and one thing only – air defense. There will be no land assault.

It is best to build massive Gattling Cannons vs. Gattling Tanks, as the Cannons are sturdier and can be repaired.

Focus on building a line of six Gattling Cannons in front of your base, adding and replacing to these as opportunity arises.

An additional strategy that makes surviving the initial assault easier is building four Tank Hunters and placing them in the small civilian structures by the river.

Key Strategies:

* Destroy the Command Center before any other structures with a Nuclear Missile combined with a level three Artillery Barrage or a secondary nuke. You may be able to destroy all of the bulldozers too with the lingering radiation. After that, all destroyed structures will not be rebuilt – plus this will save your base from Carpet Bombing strikes originating from the Command Center.

Walkthrough:

Basic start: Build a Reactor, an extra dozer, a Barracks and Supply Center. Build a second Supply Truck. Research the Capture command and create Red Guard units.

Capture the oil derrick to the east with the first Red Guard and the second one to capture the oil derrick to the northwest. This derrick will probably be destroyed early in the mission, but you can use the credits up until then.

You can postpone building a War Factory until later, although you may have issues having it destroyed before it is finished being built later in the mission. Start building Gattling Cannons – not Gattling Tanks. You should be able to build six or more before the first attack. Have plenty of power as a backup in case a Reactor is destroyed during Carpet Bombing.

Build four Tank Hunters and put one in each of the small buildings by the river. This will help take some of the initial pressure off of your Gattling Cannons.

Keep replacing Gattling Cannons as they are lost in the air attack. If both of your Supply Trucks are lost, replace at least one of them. Continually have two bulldozers in operation. They will both stay busy repairing and replacing existing structures.

Build Radar to power up the radar map on your control panel.

Build a Propaganda Center. This will be a key target for the Air Force General. Don’t tempt him to carpet bomb this structure by putting any other structures of value near it.

Start building Hackers before your supply pile runs dry. If you want, build an Internet Center. Fill it with eight Hackers. From this point forward, cash flow should not be an issue. Be sure to repair it fully whenever it is damaged.

The Internet Center can take a direct hit by the Carpet Bomber. But be careful, if the Spectre Gunship attacks the building directly followed by the Carpet Bomber, you can lose this structure. The only bright side is that some of the hackers may survive.

Build as many Gattling Cannons as you feel are necessary to make you feel secure.

Start building a Nuclear Missile to help soften up the defenses. Don’t be shy to build multiple Nuclear Missiles to speed up offensive operations.

Start building an offensive force of three Overlords and five Gattling Tanks. Cross the river and blast any garrisoned buildings with your General’s Powers. Take over the area near the Supply Dock and park your Gattling Tanks here. If you are lucky, these Gattling Tanks will help destroy the Carpet Bomber before it reaches your base.

If you want the extra credits, capture the two oil derricks on the far side of the river. Protect them with Gattling Tanks.

Destroy the Command Center with either two nukes or a single nuke combined with a level three Artillery Barrage. Hopefully all of the dozers will be destroyed by the lingering radiation and no destroyed structures can be rebuilt. This will also cause the Carpet Bombing to cease.

Keep destroying the base at your leisure.

Mission accomplished!
